About FASA

Mission Statement:

The Filipino American Student Association of Washington State University seeks to educate the university community about Filipino culture and the contributions of Filipino Americans. The objective of the organization is to represent the issues of all Filipino students and to provide a network of support for those students.

Our Story:

In 1922 the first collegiate Filipino organization in the State of Washington was established on the campus of Washington State College (now University). Created by sixteen members, the Filipino Club was founded on the premise to serve as a support network for these young pensionados from the Philippines. The first ethnocentric organization on the campus, the WSC Filipino Club left a solid foundation for further Filipinos to build upon.

In 1993, the Filipino American Student Association was (re)established to foster the unity of Filipinos, Filipino Americans and allies, with an underlying theme: "Empowerment Through Unity."
